Education System

In South Korea, the education system typically consists of 6 years of elementary school, 3 years of middle school, 3 years of high school, and 4 years of university (or 2 years for some colleges). In Korea, attendance at elementary and middle schools is mandatory, so it is free of charge.

Admission to Korean School

  • Foreign parents who wish to send their children to Korean schools must submit a foreigner registration certificate for each child. For middle and high school, it is necessary to apply to the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, and the education level of the child is determined by the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education based on their academic achievements. Foreign students must be able to speak and understand Korean in order to participate in classes, as there is no language support available.
  • For detailed information about admission eligibility, please contact the local education office.
